RO: Opera Red Fox
Love is the glue that holds people together. But what happens when a loved one’s mind begins to decline and memories fade?
*Red Fox* offers us a glimpse into three very different relationships that are shaped by the loss of memories. The opera brings to life how memories shape our identity and how love can endure, even as the shared past fades. A mythical fox weaves these stories together, adding a magical dimension to the opera.
Composer Du Yun won the Pulitzer Prize for her earlier work, *Angel’s Bone*. Together with librettist Royce Vavrek and director Barrie Kosky, she is creating a new opera that blends influences from pop music, Chinese folk music, and the European classical tradition.
