Concert De Kern: Veronique De Raedemaeker & Mathilde Wauters
Violinist Veronique De Raedemaeker and harpist Mathilde Wauters pull a number of more or less forgotten scores from under the dust with panache and verve: baroque pastiche by Alfred Schnittke and romantic duets by such noble unknowns as Belgian tone poet Alphonse Hasselmans. On either side of these preciosa stand Béla Bartók and Manuel de Falla as two solid cornerstones. Their mutual interest in folk idioms is therefore set in stone with the Romanian Dances and the Suite Populaire Espagnole, respectively.
